AoWanda Complete Ride
Drone Image: AoWanDa Entrance
After visiting the AoWanDa Recreational Park entrance, we found our first spot in our AoWanda Complete Ride for some drone shots.
Great AoWanDa River Valley aero shot.
Our drone launch location. Near the road was some sliding hills…

Drone Image of the 3 River Valley Point
As we headed back towards WuShe Resevoir 霧社水庫, we found another great spot in our AoWanda Complete Ride for some drone shots, overseeing the great 3 River Valley Intersection Point.
Through this hill was the previous AoWanDa River Valley.
Local green house farm.
River Valley towards WuShe Resevoir. Judged by the direction, the white peak at the very far end was probably Mount XueShan (雪山), Taiwan’s 2nd highest peak (3886 meters).
Great three valley intersection point.
Cliff of the lower AoWanDa river valley.
Curvy river as well as the road.

Towards WanDa Hydro Power Plant Visit
After some nice drone shots, in our AoWanda Complete Ride we went back to the main Local 83 and headed north. Below our destination WuShe Resevoir there was the WanDa Hydro Power Plant (萬大發電廠) with historical buildings.
More great river valley scenery.
WanDa Elementary.
Educational center.
WanDa Hydro Plant entrance.
Unfortunately one had to dismount the bike when you visited. Otherwise the road inside the plant area was quite nice.
Old tunnel.
WanDa Bridge.
River valley here was very narrow and steep.
Old hydro power plant blade.
The main point of interest in WanDa Hydro Power Plant was its Japanese styled dormitory complex, dating back to Japan Occupation era almost 80 years ago.
Japanese styled dormitory complex, surrounded by mountains on all sides.
“No. 6 Travel Lodge”.
Further up was the hydro power plant. Since I couldn’t ride my bike in the area I didn’t bother going all to the end.
Old dugout.
Dugout entrance.
Heading towards WuShe Dam & Return
After visiting WanDa Hydro Plant area we continued to ride north to our AoWanda Complete Ride last point of interest: WuShe Reservoir. The road was a final short ascend with some very narrow, steep section (time to power through!)
WanDa Hydro Plant seeing from above.
Narrow and steep road section here.
Reaching the highest point, we then saw the WuShe Reservoir.
WuShe Reservoir. The dam was on the right side and it was not possible to see it from here.
Old fortress ?!

As we headed back we stopped by at QinAi Village (親愛村)’s church for a look.

Verdict
The AoWanda Complete Ride route had become another of my river valley/aboriginal culture ride favorite. The roads are in fairly good conditions, the views are stunning with balanced nature and cultural elements, and finally the traffic size was decent. I strongly recommend this ride during winter time.
