Nelson BC Mountain Bike Ride Routes
1. Fairly High
2. Upper Bottoms
3. Born Again + Unit Cruiser
During my business trip I had the chance to go to Nelson, Canada. It was a nice small mountain town in Canada’s cascades, and was famous for its mountain biking and hippies.
Although the nearby forest fire added some PM2.5 in the air, we decided to still do some Nelson mountain bike ride!
You need to compensate your mountain-ness by some Hawaii island bobble head.
Toward the mountains!
Soon we left paved road and climbed up forest, having some nice encounter with lumbering Optimus Prime.
Ooops. Better back off.
Due to the forest fire the air in this whole area was foggy.
Soon we reached our first trail head: the Fairy High. We then dumped our bikes and were ready for some rides!
Fairly High, the first trail for our Nelson mountain bike ride.
The Fairly High trail head.
The first few section was a small climb uphill to a rocky vista point. Good for warming up.
Toward the edge!
Group photo time!
Hit dat rock!
Starting from here was then a nice smooth descent, and where the fun began.

Some traffic jam uphill.
Hit that stairs!
In the middle of the trail was am open space made by logging.
My Norco bike.
Also due to the very dry weather, there were lots of dusts on the trail.
After we finished the easy Fairly High trail, we decided to take a short walk and just look at the more pro trail: the Bed Frame.
The Bed Frame trail that my Nelson friends could easily ride on, but not for me.
Nelson town overview. Unfortunately the smoke covers much of its beauty.
Someone was playing with firecrackers before…
Having a nice rest, we headed to another trail head, the Upper Bottoms.
Here’s our trail head.
More plants here!
At the middle were some benches with other riders hitting for more gnarly routes.
Through some stairs!
Occasionally the trail went through some edges that looked a bit scary.
You definitely don’t want to fall down.
Finally, we hit the last trail of our Nelson mountain bike ride: Born Again and Unit Cruiser. It was a more difficult trail that caused us some light crashes and bruises.
For us the blue/square-rated trails were already hard, while our Nelson friends can easily hit some double diamond trails without a sweat.
This was the hard part: some part I had to walk it without guidance.
And we survived back down to the road. Enjoyed some beers and we called for the day!
