North Italy Marostica Castle Ride Summary:
- Self ride with friends!
- Starting/Ending Location: Ciclo Promo Components
- Bike Length: ~ 57 km. Elevation gain: Two small hills.
- Route Highlights:
Curving Through Winding Mountain Valley Roads!
After reaching the highest point at San Luka, here in our Marostica Castle Ride we began descending through winding mountain valley roads.
Along the road were many small mountain villages with cool towers and street views!
Through small mountain town Crosara.
Very cool town street!
At one point we left the main road and headed into small country road. The narrow country road was again very similar to that in Taiwan!
Our Italian friends waited for riders so they didn’t take the wrong turn.
The clouds didn’t look good…
Another small household temple.
Very cool small garden!
Visiting the Cyclist Chapel
At one point we began to do the second climb of our Marostica Castle Ride. On half top was a famous cyclist chapel, a small church dedicated to cyclists!
The chapel was at far end!
Frank talking to a cyclist from Switzerland!
Arrived at the cyclist chapel!
Drinkable water fountain again!
(Note: if you enter the chapel in Europe, make sure to take your helmet/hat off.)
Broken bike as a memorial.
Those brave cyclists!
Last Climb and Descend to Bassano Town
After the cyclist chapel, we did our last brief mountain section of Marostica Castle Ride, then we will head to the big town Bassano.
Last short stretch of climbing!
Crossing a big bridge!
Would-be great mountain/river view (if not the fences…)
After a big descend we arrived to Bassano del Grappa, a major city at the entrance to Italian Alps, and the last major sight of our Marostica Castle Ride.
Cool hilly streets!
Originally we tried to find a restaurant with good sights to our expensive bikes. As we couldn’t find one, we headed toward the city’s main plaza.
Street vendor cars!
One of the main plazas of the city:Piazza Libertà.
Non-functioning water fountain…
As we had our lunch, rain began to pour from the sky. Just like Taiwan the afternoon thunderstorm last just a bit. When the rain stopped we continued our journey back to starting point.
