Background
The Proper Sun Moon Lake Ride provides an alternative to the overly advocated Around Sun Moon Lake riding from cycling industries and Taiwanese government. It contains more Puli’s natural beauty, historical elements, aboriginal culture and definitely less big buses.
Start: Shueli
Our Proper Sun Moon Lake Ride started at Shueli (水里), a former lumbering town.
Shueli Train Station.
Near Shueli was a hydro power station, draining water from Sun Moon Lake.
Along Shueli was a short bike path towards CheCheng (車程).
The bike path entrance was about next to the train station.
CheCheng 車程
Not far away from Shueli was another small lumbering town CheCheng (車程). Built right below a dam, the town preserved its former lumbering facilities.

After CheCheng, we continued riding upstream, passing many reservoirs and power stations.

DaGuan Power Station (大觀發電廠).
Nice quiet creek and valley.
Here we went onto Route 147. For some reasons there were lots of deer farms in this regions.
Onto Route 147.

921 Earthquake Epicenter
Along Route 147 our Proper Sun Moon Lake Ride took a steep detour to visit the 921 Earthquake epicenter.
